Bio-Concrete Lab setup under the supervision of Dr. Palanisamy T

The Bio-Concrete Lab in Dept. of Civil Engineering, NITK was inaugurated on the morning hours of 25.10.2021 Monday, by Prof. Karanam Umamaheshwar Rao, Director NITK. Deans, Registrar, HoD, Professors, Non-teaching staff and Research scholars were present for the inauguration ceremony. Bio - Concrete Lab setup under the supervision of Dr. Palanisamy T, Assistant Professor in Dept. of Civil Engineering, is funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The lab was set up with an objective of conducting advanced research on suitability of very specific extremophiles calcifying bacteria and their ability to develop as an energy source (Battery) and to repair cracks in building structure using sustainable and bio-based self-healing agents.
