2 Karnataka engineer company rolls out NCC Yogdan

The 2 Karnataka Engineer Company, National Cadet Corps (NCC), NITK, under the aegis of NCC Mangaluru group undertook NCC Yogdan, a COVID-19 relief operation on Thursday. Ration items packed by NCC personnel were distributed under guidance of Col A K Sharma, group commander, Mangaluru to marginalised section of society fending for themselves at Srinivasanagar, Sadashiv Ganapati Temple Road and Surathkal.

Each packet contained rice, wheat power, dal, onion, garlic, refined oil, sugar, salt and other condiments for each family to cater for their needs for a fortnight. Over 40 families, mainly daily wages labourers were attended to. The food material was purchased through voluntary contribution from officers, associate NCC officers and permanent instructional staff of the above NCC company. Staff of Light House Surathkal also for this noble cause.

Col N K Jha, officer commanding of 2 Kar Engr Company, ANOs and PI staff distributed the ration. Ministry of defence (MoD) has authorised NCC Yogdan under which civil and police administration have started requisitioning services of senior division NCC cadets in fight against COVID-19 pandemic. MoD has allowed temporary employment of NCC cadets who will give a helping hand to state and municipal authorities to augment relief efforts.
